June/July

June has all but flown by, with not as much chance to paint. I have done a few smaller pieces, and have spent time travelling and getting some new ideas. Though it has to be said, it is always easier to resort to what is familiar, and to paint more scenes of Venice, my favourite city. Pictured is one view of a Chinatown vase, based loosely on the views down Canal Street, from the Manhattan bridge. It was slightly surreal to have painted this before I actually visited the very same streets. It gave me a secret feeling of deja vu.
